—The village’s coloring contest banners are in. Mayor Kelly Hoffee showed them to council. The banners will go up in downtown soon.
—Holmes County Commissioner Dave Hall came to council and discussed his appreciation for working together on various projects.
—Mark Hiner, Millersburg’s Ohio House representative, sent a proclamation to the village congratulating it on its bicentennial. The proclamation will be hung in council chambers.
—The ordinance to change the zoning map on Marchand Street from R-3 to Special Use failed.
—The ordinance to add marijuana cultivation, processing or retail sale to the November ballot passed and will be on the ballot for a village-wide vote.
—Council voted to change No Name Street to a right turn only onto South Clay Street.
—DORA has been approved by the state and will be in effect sometime in August.
—Council member Robert Shoemaker discussed the promotion of the village for manufacturing.
—Council will discuss the new council rules at the next council meeting.
—The new water bill system will be put into effect in September. It will allow residents to have automatic deductions and online bill pay. For those residents who still wish to receive a paper bill, that also will continue to be available.
—The kickoff meeting with the engineer for the downtown sidewalk project recently took place.
—On June 25 the indigent remains were buried at the indigent burial site at Oak Hill. Once the new stone is in place, the village will hold a ceremony to honor them.
—The records commission will meet Aug. 11 at 6:45 p.m. before the council meeting.
—The finance and audit committee will meet July 28 at 3:30 p.m. in council chambers.
—The planning grant application was sent in by Hoffee.
—Starting the week of July 21, hydrants will be flushed throughout the village.
—After the pole is removed on Jones Street, Melway will pave that intersection. After that, striping on various streets throughout the village will be done.
—The last sidewalk to be done in the village at this time is at Park Bank. The village is waiting for the bank to repave its parking lot so both can get done at the same time.
—Troy Snyder and Chad Cline have both completed their probationary status and were taken off probation effective immediately.
—The street department has installed new signs at the village’s entrances.
—Council decided to hire Steve McKinney for the street department and Ron Kiner for the police department.
The next council meeting is scheduled for Aug. 11.
