McNutt recognized for his service upon retirement

The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees honored Road Supervisor Chuck McNutt at the March 28 meeting. McNutt retired after 18 years working for the township.
McNutt thanked the township and the community for all their support and expressed gratitude for all the friendship he has made.
“Chuck was never off duty,” board chairman Matt Ritterbeck said. “Regardless of the time of day, when a tree was down on a road from high winds, a culvert washed out due to high water, or a snow or ice event took place on the 40 miles of township roads, he responded with zero complaints. Because of his dedication, he made friends with many residents. He and his wife Judy took great pride in making sure the township’s Fort Laurens Cemetery looked beautiful for Memorial Day. I wish him a healthy and enjoyable retirement on the lake fishing with his grandchildren and family.”
Public hearing on zoning changes
Zoning inspector Ron Weekley said the zoning commission will hold a public hearing on May 14 regarding proposed changes to the zoning regulations. Legal notice will be published, and proposed changes can be reviewed at the township building on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Bolivar Branch Library and the Bolivar Post Office.
In other business
Trustees voted to appoint Perry Myers to the position of road superintendent following McNutt’s retirement.
OTARMA, the township’s insurance provider, made several recommendations, all of which trustees approved, including approving the Lawrence Township business continuity plan and a wireless access policy.
Myers announced road sweeping is scheduled to take place April 8-9. He asked residents in Hunters Green and Wilkshire Hills not to park cars on the street for those two days. Myers also said Zutavern Church Road is being prepared for chip and seal work.
Trustee Mike Haueter said he installed endpoint security and firewall protection on all township computers.
Trustees approved sending a letter prepared by chairman Matt Ritterbeck to the Joint Solid Waste Management District urging them to continue providing the yard waste/composting program. The JSWMD announced last month that funding for the program will end in 2025.
Martina Mann, administrative assistant, was advised that if commercial entities want to rent the Township Hall, they need to provide a copy of their insurance. Trustees also decided the rental agreement should specify that only service animals are allowed in the building.
The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees meets the second and last Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Charles E. Lundenberger Hall, 10867 Industrial Parkway NW, Bolivar. All meetings are open to the public.
