Main Street Music free downtown concerts begin

Main Street Wooster kicked off its Main Street Music series again on May 16 at the pavilion on the square in downtown Wooster. The series, featuring a lineup of 50 free concerts by local musicians, continues every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6-8 p.m. through Sept. 21 with limited interruption.
Music of all genres and generations is included to give everyone something they like and something new to try. Oldies, Americana, classic rock, country, folk, Irish, jazz, big band, indie, gospel, classical harp, pop and more will be represented. Fan favorites like The Cicconetti Brothers, Standard Time Jazz, Honeytown and Mental Faculties are all back with new additions to the lineup like American Pride, Double Barrel, and Jerry Atric and the Geezers making their first appearances.
Audience attendance over the last few seasons has grown. Patrons are encouraged to grab dinner to go or a DORA drink or two from one of the downtown establishments and pull up a chair.
“Stay for as little or as long as you want. Dance if you feel moved. Bring the kids and let them wiggle. Just enjoy,” said Guinevere Steensen, program manager for Main Street Wooster. “We have an incredible wealth of local musical talent that want to entertain you.”
Applications were at an all-time high. This series alone has 47 different musicians. All are paid, and tip jars are encouraged.
Main Street Music is made possible through partnership with City of Wooster. PNC is the presenting sponsor along with other sponsors such as Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation, Wooster Glass Co., Wooster Color Point, Sprenger Health Care Systems, and the Matthew Family Fund.
