Loudonville library schedules October events

Programs include crafts, cooking challenges, storytime, book clubs and Halloween-themed fun

Tacos & Trivia - Halloween Edition will be held Monday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade can get tacos while showing off their trivia skills. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 12.

Storytime will be offered Tuesdays, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 10 a.m. Storytime is an interactive program for age 2-5 that includes stories, songs, finger plays and crafts. Caregivers must be present, and younger siblings are welcome to attend.

Pinterest Power - Needle Felt Pumpkin will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. or Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10:30 a.m. The hands-on class will try out popular Pinterest crafts. Supplies will be provided. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 12 per session.

Kids Club will meet Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. Children in kindergarten through third grade can join for a new program with a hands-on activity each time, from building LEGOs and STEM to crafts and more.

Homeschool Hangout - Rubber Duckorating will be held Thursday, Oct. 9 at 2:30 p.m. Families can connect with the library and other homeschool families in the community while exploring different activities. Supplies are limited.

Teen Take Home Cooking Challenge - Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread will begin Monday, Oct. 13. Students in sixth grade through 12th grade can take home a new recipe each month and show off their cooking skills. Kits are available at the youth desk — first come, first served.

Book Club to Go will begin Monday, Oct. 13, featuring “The Lost Apothecary” by Sarah Penner. Monthly kits include a book, discussion questions and an activity — available while supplies last.

Family Pumpkin Painting will be held Monday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. Families can paint pumpkins and get apple cider. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 15 families.

Mocktails & Macrame will take place Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. Participants will create a paperclip bookmark while getting mocktails. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 20.

Mohican Naturalist Hour will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Participants can make a nature-themed craft.

Witch’s Brew Oobleck will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 at 3:30 p.m. Kids in first grade through eighth grade can mix spooky science. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 12.

The library will open Friday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. for a staff development session.

National Friends of the Library Week will be observed Oct. 20-25. Special promotions will be available at the Friends Book Store.

Library Canvas Bag will be held Monday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade can create a custom tote. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 12.

Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body will be presented Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. The Alzheimer’s Association will share ways to keep the brain and body healthy.

S’mores Dessert Pizza will be held Thursday, Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m. Kids in first grade through eighth grade can build dessert pizzas. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 12.

Adult Book Discussion will take place Friday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. Participants can choose from a selection of banned books. The group will meet in the Golden Center. New members are welcome.

Teen Take & Makes - Haunted Birdhouse will begin Monday, Oct. 27. Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade can pick up craft kits at the youth desk while supplies last.

Spice Club also will begin Monday, Oct. 27. Kits include information on a spice’s history, recipes and ideas to try at home — available while supplies last.

Autumn Trees in Watercolor will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. Participants will create watercolor paintings. Sign-up is required, with a limit of 20.

Reel Fun After School will be held Thursday, Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. "The Addams Family" movie will be shown, with treats provided.
