Local basketball players earn All-East District honors
Hiland, West Holmes and Garaway players named to the teams
Several local players were recognized when the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association released its All-East District basketball teams, which are selected by media members from across the district.
Boys
Hiland had multiple players honored in Division VI. Senior Alex Miller earned first-team honors after averaging 12.0 points and was also named one of the district’s co-Players of the Year. Sophomore Ryan Zerger joined him on the first team with a 13.7 scoring average, while senior Caleb Yoder earned second-team honors after averaging 10.5 points. Ashton Schrock and Caleb Mishle received special mention recognition.
West Holmes also had representation on the district list in Division IV. Junior Nate Sprang was a second-team choice, averaging 15.9 points. Cooper Malterich and Keston McKinney both received special mention honors.
Garaway senior Jaxson Garber was named to the second team in Division V, averaging 10.0 points. Teammates Micah Yoder and Tanner Rowe both received special mention honors.
Girls
Hiland juniors Macy Mullet and Reagan Zerger were both named to the first team in Division VI after averaging 13.0 points per game, with Mullet also earning co-Players of the Year honors. Sophomore Perryn Mishler (15.0) and senior Evie Mast (10.0) were named to the second team, while Victoria Weaver and Sienna Immel received special mention.
West Holmes had five players recognized in Division IV. Senior Zalina Proper earned first-team honors with a 12.0 scoring average. Classmate Briar Cline was named to the second team after averaging 10.4 points, while Cara McMillen, Mati Fair and Rorie Wilcox received special mention.
Garaway’s Lucy Numbers earned special mention in Division VI.
