The Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce has selected Jarrett as the recipient of the 2020 Community Impact Award in recognition for their corporate commitment to making their community a better place to live and to work.
The Community Impact Award was first presented in 2019 to honor an Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce member business or organization that had made an outstanding contribution to the community in the past year.
“We thrive when we are working together to live out our values and help those in need. We know that the moment that we stop caring about those around us is the moment that we stop being Jarrett,” said TJ Dalenberg, the company’s senior HR coordinator.
Civic responsibility is one of the core values of Jarrett’s culture. The company defines civic responsibility as giving back to communities by donating time, talents, energy and resources to worthwhile causes.
In 2020 Jarrett faced unprecedented challenges and needed to find new ways of doing things. The company continued a long-standing partnership with Orrville Salvation Army to donate 2,336 cans to the annual food drive. Jarrett employees also donated funds to Wayne County Children’s Services Make a Wish Christmas project for children in need and had fun participating in Jeans Day for Charity every Friday in support of the Fisher House Foundation. Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay while a loved one is in the hospital.
“Our core values are not check boxes that our employees align with after they start working at Jarrett,” said Allie Benter, human resources coordinator at Jarrett. “We intentionally look for candidates that share our values including civic responsibility.”
A new focus in 2020 was to highlight the various ways employees were personally giving back to the community such as coaching youth sports, serving as Ohuddle mentors or volunteering at their church.
“We are grateful to have an employee base with such generous spirits and willingness to invest in bettering their communities,” Benter said.
Jarrett is a privately held, family-owned company headquartered in Orrville since 1998. The company has been recognized four times by The Plain Dealer newspaper with the Top Workplaces Award.
The Community Impact Award will be formally presented at the Celebration of Community, Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Program on June 24. The event will be held at Orrville High School Performing Arts Center. In-person and virtual event tickets are available for purchase at www.orrvillechamber.com.
