Humane Society names new director of animal shelter

The Wayne County Humane Society Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of John Carhart as the organization's next animal shelter director.
With a background as a former business owner holding a degree in business administration, Carhart brings a blend of entrepreneurial acumen and HR expertise to his role. With over a decade of service in the animal welfare field, Carhart has demonstrated a commitment to the well-being of animals. His most recent role as dog warden and shelter director in Knox County showcased his leadership skills, innovative approach and ability to effectively manage shelter operations.
The Wayne County Humane Society's board is confident Carhart's expertise will contribute to the continued success of the organization in its mission to find permanent homes for companion animals in the community, measurably reduce companion animal overpopulation, and educate and promote humane values.
“We are delighted to welcome John Carhart to our team as the new animal shelter director. His extensive experience and passion for animal welfare make him the ideal candidate to lead our efforts in providing a safe and caring environment for animals in our community,” said Dee Black, board president.
Carhart said, “I am thankful for the opportunity to continue my animal advocacy by promoting animal welfare as well as working together with all that are associated with Wayne County Humane Society.”
