As the 17th annual Cause for Paws Gala approaches, the Tuscarawas County Humane Society is preparing to make a lasting impact in the lives of animals in need across Tuscarawas County.

Scheduled for April 5 at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas, the gala provides hope for the community’s most vulnerable companions — abandoned, abused and neglected animals.

Every year animals find their way into the arms of TCHS, each with a story that speaks to the resilience of the animal spirit. From dogs that have suffered neglect to cats that have been left behind, these animals rely on TCHS for a second chance. The shelter provides care and comfort and also the promise of a home where they can flourish.

At the heart of the TCHS mission is a commitment to quality care for these animals, regardless of the financial challenges faced by the organization. As a nonprofit reliant solely on community support and not on county, state or federal funding, TCHS strives to meet the needs of these animals without outside help.

Its mission is not just about rescuing animals; it’s about rehabilitating them and preparing them for the next chapter in their lives.

“This fundraiser is our largest fundraiser for the shelter; it helps fund the shelter for an entire year. One-hundred percent of the proceeds of this event go directly to the animals and their care, highlighting not only the significance of this event, but also the vital role that community involvement plays in ensuring that every animal receives the essential care they need and deserve,” said Haley Predragovich, the director at TCHS.

The past few years have presented numerous challenges for TCHS. With increasing operating costs coupled with an influx of animals needing help, the shelter must continue to innovate and adapt to meet these demands.

The shelter’s staff and volunteers serve as the backbone of this organization. They care for the animals, offering companionship, exercise and training. This commitment creates an environment where animals can heal.

Fundraising events like the Cause for Paws Gala are essential in helping TCHS fulfill its mission. The funds raised during these events allow the organization to continue its work throughout the year. The gala raises needed funds and also raises awareness about the plight of these animals, urging the community to get involved through donations, sponsorships and volunteer opportunities.

In addition to ticket sales, TCHS seeks donations from local businesses and community members to support both the live and silent auctions at the gala. Contributions can include items such as gift baskets, scratch-off lottery tickets and merchandise. Whether large or small, every donation goes a long way in creating a more sustainable environment for the animals.

While the focus of the gala remains on the animals and their needs, TCHS is grateful for the support received from the community. Last year sponsors like Denney Plastics Machining, MSI, Raymond Dental Group and several others stepped up to lend their support. Their contributions helped ensure successful outcomes for the shelter’s animals.

As the Cause for Paws Gala approaches, TCHS invites community members to join in celebrating the lives that have been changed and learn more about the shelter’s work and the animals that benefit from it.

Ticket sales for the gala opened Feb. 8 with early bird tickets priced at $75 while reserved tables for groups of 10 are available for $950.
