Historian and author Patrick J. Drouhard will present Ft. Fizzle and the Holmes County Rebellion on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Library in Millersburg.

The history of Southwestern Holmes County would not be complete without mention of the Holmes County Rebellion, known locally as Fort Fizzle. Was it truly a rebellion? How did this incident, with a group of 400 so-called rebels in Holmes County, command the attention of President Lincoln?

Learn what really happened on French Ridge in June 1863, along with who Louis Blanchard was and how he was involved.

Drouhard was born and raised near Loudonville. He graduated with a degree in secondary education, majoring in history, then earned a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Dayton.

Drouhard is the author of “It Don’t Look Right for the Times,” the factual history of the Holmes County Rebellion. It will be available for purchase at this event.

While there is no charge to attend, registration is required. Visit the library or call 330-674-5972 to register.
