On Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m., Chris Hart will bring to life the well-known Gothic horror story penned by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886.

By day Dr. Henry Jekyll is a respected physician, but by night a self-induced transformation takes place and his evil alter-ego Mr. Edward Hyde stalks the gas-lit streets of London, terrifying her citizens. But as Jekyll confesses to his best friend, John Utterson, the immoral monster is on the verge of taking over Jekyll’s body permanently. Which personality will win in this retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson masterpiece?

Hart has created a venture known as History Comes to Life, which allows him to combine two areas of personal interest: history and storytelling. Appearing in costume, Hart brings to life numerous historical and literary characters ranging from Cy Young to Ichabod Crane.

Hart serves as adjunct faculty and guest lecturer at several universities in Ohio. In addition, he has served as program development manager at Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton.

He uses his acting talents at local community theaters and in two murder mystery troupes. He has participated in the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee and in the National Park Service in Pennsylvania.

This program will be held in the community room at the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org or call the library at 330-343-6123.
