Colonial Homestead launches Readers and Writers Night
Monthly series fosters literary discussion starting in April
Colonial Homestead will launch a monthly Readers and Writers Night series beginning in April, offering an open forum for those who enjoy literature, discussion and thoughtful conversation.
The program will take place from 6-8 p.m. the first Monday each month at Colonial Homestead, 6515 state Route 241, Millersburg.
Organizers say the series aims to foster a love and appreciation for quality writing including both classic and contemporary works while encouraging discussion that builds on the traditions of storytelling, reading and thoughtful inquiry.
Each session will feature lectures, discussions and occasional debates. Rather than a traditional book club format, the program will focus on open forum conversations centered on subject matter, genre, authors and writing styles. Moderators will introduce each topic, and scheduled speakers may present for 30-45 minutes before group discussion and questions.
Colonial Homestead also will offer a 10% discount on most books during event hours, along with a book trading table.
Initial discussion topics include the following:
—April: Is this book worth reading?
—May: 21st-century poetry and poets.
—June: Inspirational fiction: Writing well without moralizing.
All sessions are free. Organizers plan to announce additional topics for the remainder of 2026 by midsummer, with schedules also published in local media.
