United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties will partner with Community Action to offer a Bridges out of Poverty workshop on April 25 at the Salvation Army Chapel in Wooster, 437 S. Market St.

Bridges out of Poverty is a comprehensive approach to helping people understand poverty using different lenses of economic class. Participants will review poverty research, talk about hidden rules of class, look at family structures and language registers, and be provided with concrete tools and strategies for better understanding poverty in their communities.

“Partnering with Community Action to bring our community and all of the communities we serve this workshop is important to the mission-driven work we are doing in Wayne and Holmes counties," said Katie Koglman, executive director of United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties. "Bridges out of Poverty is a tremendous resource for those that attend to help community members understand the complexities that exist around poverty. We are very excited to partner with Community Action to bring this workshop to life.”

The workshop will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost to attend is $35 per person, which includes lunch. One may register by calling United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties at 330-264-5576.
