Art exhibit celebrates seniors

Almost 300 people visited the “Creativity is Timeless” exhibit held at Walnut Hills Retirement Community on Aug. 26. The exhibit featured 95 pieces of artwork that were submitted by 54 different Holmes County area residents who are over the age of 55.

Best of Show was awarded to Bill Jennings of Walnut Creek for his woodworking entry titled “The Last Supper.” The People’s Choice Award, which was voted on by visitors to the exhibit, also was given to Jennings for his intarsia woodworking.

Winners in the seven individual categories were as follows:

In the paintings and drawings category, Louise Ritchey of Millersburg received the first-place ribbon, Andrene Bell of Dundee took second, Sharon H. Baier of Walnut Creek earned third place and Eleanor Boyd of Millersburg took fourth place.

In the woodworking category, Bill Jennings of Walnut Creek was awarded first place, Bill Kobel of Walnut Creek took second place, Rachel Kaufmann of Berlin took third place and Richard Schubert of Walnut Creek got fourth place.

In the hard crafts category, Dod Nobel of Walnut Creek received first place, Jim Flynn of Millersburg earned the second-place ribbon, Lois Hauser of Millersburg got third place and George Bender of Walnut Creek took fourth place.
