Learn canning tips at Coshocton County Fair
Free class April 29 covers safe canning practices with OSU expert
Curious about what it takes to earn a blue ribbon with canned foods at the Coshocton County Fair? Come learn about the judging criteria for canned foods categories while exploring recommendations for safely canning foods.
Emily Marrison, family and consumer sciences educator, will teach about the differences between water bath canning and pressure canning and why it is important to use the correct process to produce safe, high-quality food. Participants will be able to view different types of canners, jars, lids and other helpful tools.
The Blue Ribbon Canning Class will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 at the Coshocton County Services Building, 724 S. Seventh St., room 145, Coshocton. The class is free, but registration is required at go.osu.edu/blueribboncanning. Call OSU Extension with questions at 740-622-2265 or email marrison.12@osu.edu.
