The Coshocton High School Class of 1976 celebration will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, May 22 with the graduation of the Class of 2026 at the CHS football field on 245 Water St.
The Class of 1976 will have special seating on the field. Wear comfortable shoes and no heels. The commencement address will be given by Bob Bigrigg, a member of the 1976 graduating class. Class of 1976 members should arrive no later than 6:45 p.m.
You must register for this event by calling Sara Antequera at the office of Coshocton City Schools at 740-622-1901 ext. 1001. In case of rain, graduation will be held in the CHS gymnasium.
Following graduation, the Class of 1976 will gather to mix and mingle at the Warehouse Restaurant on 400 N. Whitewoman St. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Saturday, May 23 will begin with a tour of Coshocton High School, 1205 Cambridge Road, followed by a brief planetarium presentation. Meet at the second-floor entrance by the old bookstore. This is made possible by school board member and classmate Sam Bennett and Mr. Loomis, the CHS principal.
The celebration class party will be held Saturday, May 23 at the Coshocton Village Inn and Suites, 115 N. Water St. Cocktails will begin at 5 p.m. with a cash bar — cash only, no credit cards.
There is an ATM available in the hotel. A buffet dinner will open at 6 p.m., provided by Shumaker's. The menu includes tossed garden salad, cheesy potatoes, green beans, pulled pork, Parmesan chicken, meatless lasagna and dinner rolls. Texas sheet cake and carrot cake will be the dessert. Iced tea, lemonade and water will be available, and the bar will remain open throughout the evening.
The cost of the dinner is $35 per person. Reservations and payment are due no later than Friday, May 15. Include your full name including maiden and the name of any guest when making reservations. Go to the Facebook page for detailed payment information or email Beccy Randles Porteus at Beccy.p3@gmail.com.
At 7:30 p.m. classmates who have passed away will be honored. Those classmates who are not having dinner are invited to join at this time. Faculty and staff also are welcome to dinner by making a reservation or stop by after dinner.
The music playlist from the '70s will be provided by Redskin Mascot and classmate Tony Hamilton.
Accommodations are available with special pricing at the Coshocton Village Inn and Suites. Call 740-622-9455 and ask to be part of the room block for the Class of 1976. Air B&B options also are available in the area.
The Class of 1976 will offer several scholarships to the Class of 2026 graduates. Gifts of any size are welcome by donating online at www.Coshoctonfoundation.org, by mail or by dropping off a contribution at the Coshocton Foundation, 220 S. Fourth St., Coshocton.
