Coshocton doctor expands local cancer care
Dr. Scott Wegner aims to improve access to cancer treatment and screenings in Coshocton
The next doctor featured in the Coshocton Public Health District's informational spotlight is Dr. Scott Wegner, M.D. He is with Genesis Cancer Care Center, and his specialty is hematology/medical oncology.
"Over the years I have been able to build relationships with many patients who come from Coshocton," Wegner said. "I have always felt guilty that they have to travel so far for care. It will be great to have a chance to see them closer to their homes."
He encourages everyone to get their age-appropriate cancer screenings done and get primary care.
"In Coshocton, like every rural area, it can be very difficult for patients to get to locations where they can get clinical care," Wegner said. "At Genesis we are trying to grow access for primary care, imaging and many specialty services closer to where people live. We also have resources to help with things like transportation, and we can conduct many types of visits by video.
"In the future I believe we will also have many options to provide specialty pharmaceuticals to patients in the Coshocton area."
