Wooster City School District has received a four-star overall rating on the Ohio School Report Card, indicating the district exceeds state standards. This achievement reflects performance across six components: achievement, progress, gap closing, graduation, early literacy, and college, career, workforce and military readiness.
The district earned five stars in the gap closing category, which measures the reduction of educational disparities among student groups and indicates performance that significantly exceeds state standards.
Individual school ratings are as follows:
—Wooster High School: 3.5 stars.
—Edgewood Middle School: 4.5 stars.
—Kean Elementary School: 4 stars.
—Melrose Elementary School: 4 stars.
—Parkview Elementary School: 4 stars.
—Cornerstone Elementary School: 2.5 stars.
Additional five-star ratings were achieved by Kean Elementary and Melrose Elementary in gap closing and by Edgewood Middle School in progress.
“We are thrilled by the progress being made by the students at Wooster City Schools," Superintendent Gabe Tudor said. "This growth is a direct result of the intentional and collaborative efforts of our high-quality staff, along with the support of our families. We look forward to further evaluating this data to drive continued improvement."
This fall the district will release its annual quality profile and provide additional information from the report card data at a board of education meeting.
