Medina High School Kiwanis names December Students of the Month
Seniors Hudson Karas and Jillian Ruppel recognized for academic excellence and leadership

Congratulations to Medina High School seniors Hudson Karas and Jillian Ruppel, who were recognized as the Kiwanis December Students of the Month.
Hudson is an intellectually curious and highly motivated student who approaches every subject with a sharp mind and a genuine eagerness to explore ideas beyond the classroom. He consistently upholds a strong moral compass and demonstrates exceptional integrity in all he does. Creative and insightful, Hudson brings original thinking to his work and fully engages with each learning opportunity. His teachers and peers alike value his character, enthusiasm and thoughtful contributions.
Hudson has been recognized as a commended student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. His rigorous academic schedule includes Advanced Placement and honors courses, and he has earned the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award, summa cum laude, during his freshman, sophomore and junior years.
A dedicated and talented musician, Hudson is a member of the Medina Musical Bees, where he plays bass clarinet. He serves as both section leader and band secretary and performs with the Symphony Honors Bands. In addition, he is the pianist for Stardusters. Hudson is also a member of the Ohio Math League. Following graduation, he plans to continue his education in a STEM-related field. He is the son of David and Jessica Karas.
Jillian is an academically gifted student who embraces challenging coursework with enthusiasm and a desire to continually deepen her learning. Her positive nature, strong communication skills and thoughtful participation enrich every environment she is part of. Jillian’s willingness to engage — whether in class discussions or student organizations — reflects her dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence. Her enthusiasm and collaborative spirit make her a valued member of the Medina High School community.
Jillian’s academic schedule includes Advanced Placement and honors courses, and she has earned the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award, summa cum laude, during her freshman, sophomore and junior years. She is an active member of the National Honor Society, Link Crew, HUDDLE, Math League, Key Club and Student Council, where she has served as homecoming chairperson for the past two years. Outside of school, Jillian works at Marshalls. She plans to attend a university to study nursing or health science. Jillian is the daughter of David Ruppel and Adrienne Ruppel.
