EK baseball team picks up three victories on week

Hitting sparks wins for Bulldogs

The East Knox baseball team won three of four games this week.

A 14-run second inning propelled East Knox to an 18-1 victory over Loudonville on April 1.

Caden Ridenour smacked a double and drove in five runs to lead the Bulldogs. Jaxon Lester added a double and a single, while Zayne Grennell had a double. Wyatt Baker chipped in with two singles, and Lucas Colopy, Caleb Armstrong, Dakota Cooper and Braxton Lahmon had one hit each.

Ridenour worked the first three innings on the mound for EK, fanning three and allowing just one walk. Jesse Dudgeon finished up, fanning one.

The Bulldogs followed that up with an exciting 4-3 victory over Crestview on April 2.

Ridenour and Armstrong each cracked a double to lead the Bulldogs. Colton Armstrong and Cooper both singled.

Colton Armstrong started on the hill for EK, fanning four in three innings of work. Caleb Armstrong finished up, fanning five.

On April 4, the Bulldogs managed just two hits in a 14-0 loss to Northridge.

Ridenour got all the hits, both singles.

Garrett Wesney started on the hill for EK, fanning three in 4.1 innings of work. Dudgeon fanned one in an inning and a third, while Gavin Kidwell finished up.

East Knox needed two runs in the seventh inning to come away with a 12-10 victory over Cardington on Tuesday.

Colton Armstrong led the Bulldogs with three singles, while teammate Caleb Armstrong had a double, single and three RBI. Wesney added a double, while Ridenour and Dudgeon both singled.

Caleb Armstrong pitched the first 3.2 innings for EK, striking out three. Grennell and Dudgeon combined to finish up, with Dudgeon fanning one.

Softball

East Knox scored two in the first inning, but that was all it could get in falling, 17-2, to Loudonville on April 1.

Cloe Tucker, Lydia Hill, Mackenzie Wilson, Kenlie Moore and Rhyley Lilly each had one single for the Bulldogs.

Hill pitched the first four innings for EK, striking out three while allowing eight hits and three walks. Wilson finished up.

Track

The East Knox track teams won several events at the Plymouth Memorial on Saturday.

Logan Clark won the 100-meter dash for the boys, finishing in 12.03 seconds. Cason Faucett won the 400 (51.49) and also finished second in the 100 (12.04). The 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams also captured gold. Kaiden Clutter added a second-place showing in the 3200 (11:29.22), while Brody Korosec was third in the 800 (2:12.08).

On the girls’ side, Isabelle Bostic won the 400 (1:01.67), while also finishing second in the 200 (28.17). The 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams also captured first. Macie Fawcett came in second in the 800 (2:31.71), while Ava Faucett was third in the 100 (13.66) and 200 (28.68).
