Bocock shuts down Bulldogs, leads Devils to victory
Senior pitcher tosses perfect game with 13 strikeouts

It didn’t take long for Addy Bocock find her stride.
The Danville pitcher, an All-Ohio selection a year ago, came
out firing Tuesday, tossing a perfect game in leading the Blue Devils to a 10-0
victory over East Knox.

Bocock faced the minimum 15 batters in the five-inning game,
striking out 13. She did not allow a walk and just two EK batters put the ball
in play. Bocock struck out the first eight batters before Kendall Griffith
grounded out to second baseman Taylor Meade. In the fourth, Mackenzie Wilson
popped up to Meade.
The Blue Devils (2-0) needed just two innings to get its
offense in gear, as well. Danville scored two runs in the second, then added
four in both the third and fourth innings.

Dalayna Parker got things started with a one-out double.
Parker moved to third on an error, then scored on a passed ball. Liz John, who
reached on the error, scored on a ground out by Morgan Hinkens.
In the third, Kaylee Martin belted a home run to lead off
the inning. A walk, hit by pitch and an error loaded the bases up, with John
hitting a sacrifice fly to score a run. A bases loaded walk and a passed ball
allowed the other two runs to score.
A single by Ruby Bartok knocked in a run in the fourth.
Parker drove in two with another single and John singled in the final run.
Parker led the Devils with a single and a double. Martin
homered, while Bocock, Bartok, Meade, John and Riley Johnston all singled.

Lydia Hill pitched for East Knox, striking out four while
allowing eight hits and three walks.
Danville opened its season on Saturday, rallying with four
runs in the seventh inning to beat Newark Catholic, 5-4.
After scoring once in the first inning on four walks, Danville’s
bats went silent for the next five innings.
Trailing 4-1 and down to their last at bat, the Blue Devils
dug deep to rally for the win. Martin started the inning with a leadoff double.
Bocock singled her in, then scored with Bartok smacked a home run to tie the
game at four. With two outs, Ryleigh Geog singled and then scored on a triple
by Hinkens.
Hinkens led the Devils with a triple and a single, while
Bartok had a home run and Martin a double. Bocock, Geog and Johnston all
singled.
Bocock went the distance on the mound, striking out 10 while
allowing eight hits and two walks.
Centerburg
The Centerburg softball team brought out the big lumber for
its opening game, smacking four home runs in an 11-1 victory over Westerville
South on March 21.
Sydnee Schoonover cranked out two homers, and Abby Herren
and Jazmyn Larimore each hit one as the Trojans scored all 11 runs in the first
three innings.
Herren added a single to go along with her HR and scored
three times on the day. Grace O’Quinn and Kallie Webb each added a double, and
Morgan Beaver and Briley Cline each singled for Centerburg.
Beaver started on the mound for the Trojans, allowing just
two hits while striking out five in three innings of work. Cline finished up,
fanning two while giving up three hits and one walk.
The offensive explosion continued against Fredericktown as
the Trojans cranked out 14 hits in a 12-2 victory over the Freddies.
Herren led the onslaught, smacking two home runs and driving
in three runs. Larimore and Schoonover also had a homer and a double, while
Taylor Bryant had three singles. Webb and Beaver each had two singles, and Lydia
Gribben had one.
Beaver went the distance on the mound, striking out three
and allowing six hits in five innings of work.
Fredericktown was led by Abbey Wittman, who had a double and
two singles. Jazzy Wittman added two singles, while Ella Au had a double.
Vika Arnett started on the hill for FHS, fanning one while
allowing nine hits and three walks. Haylee Frye finished up, allowing five hits
and two walks.
