YMCA will hold its 23rd Memorial Golf Outing on Aug. 15

The Tuscarawas County YMCA will hold its 23rd annual Memorial Golf Outing on Aug. 15 at Oak Shadows Golf Club in New Philadelphia. Formerly known as the Jack Marsh Memorial Golf Outing, the name has been updated to honor Craig Rader, a longtime Tuscarawas County YMCA supporter and former board member who passed away in 2021.
Team registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m. During the outing teams of four amateur golfers will compete in an 18-hole scramble. In addition, teams compete in an orange ball game and have chances to win prizes by participating in games and hole-in-one contests throughout the course.
Meals, snacks and drinks are included in the registration fee and are provided throughout the day, culminating in a steak dinner at the conclusion of play with dine-in or carryout options.
All profits from the event support the YMCA’s annual campaign, which provides financial assistance for Y membership and programs to local youth and families. Through community donations, grants and fundraisers, the Y is able to provide assistance for participants in programs such as preschool, summer day camp, afterschool care, swim lessons, youth sports, gymnastics and Teen Leaders Club.
“We’re happy to be able to honor Craig Rader’s legacy of caring for the community with our golf outing,” said Jenny Dallas, executive assistant and outing coordinator. “Our goal is to raise $17,000 from the outing to help meet the need for program and membership assistance for our neighbors here in Tuscarawas County.”
