Wooster Music Club holds Nov. meeting

The Wooster Music Club met in Wesley Hall at the Wooster United Methodist Church on Nov. 7.
Johannah and Rachel Beatty, students of Meg Litteral, performed three fiddle pieces by Jay Ungar: “Haymakers’ Hoedown,” “Waltzing with You” and “Lovers’ Waltz.” The sisters are from Mount Vernon and are being homeschooled.
Pianist Stephanie Musselman arranged and played a Thanksgiving medley, giving the audience the opportunity to sing along.
Litteral was on fiddle and accompanied by J.R. Rhodebeck on octave mandolin and Laura Tappen on guitar on “Carolan’s Air” by T. Carolan and three traditional pieces: “Beare Island,” “Kevin Keegan’s Waltz” and “Paddy on the Railroad.”
Vocalist Jade Miller, a student of Lorna Parks of Dalton, sang “Apres un Reve” by Gabriel Faure and “The Holy City” by Stephen Adams. Pianist Myra Leeper provided the accompaniment. Miller plans to study music therapy in college next year.
Hope Long on small pipes (bagpipes) played “Ananda Pa Gae” by Jose Tejedor, “The Tenth HLI Crossing the Rhine” by D. MacRae and “The Bells of Dunblane” (traditional).
The program was brought to a close by Litteral, who read an original composition titled “Flight.”
