WH to face Big Red in wrestling team duals

The Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association recently released the district team duals tournament brackets as West Holmes will travel to Indian Valley High School to face Steubenville in a semifinal matchup on Feb. 3.

The Knights garnered the No. 6 seed in the split bracket district and are grouped with Steubenville (No. 3 seed), host Indian Valley (No. 2) and New Philadelphia (No. 7) in the lower half of the bracket.

West Holmes and Steubenville will battle at 10 a.m. with the Braves and Quakers tangling at the same time. The two winners will meet for the lower half bracket championship, which sends the winner to the state team duals tournament on Feb. 10. The two semifinal losers will wrestle for third.

The upper half of the bracket will see No. 9 Washington squaring off with No. 8 Vincent Warren, with that winner moving on to face No. 1 seed and host Carrollton in a semifinal matchup. The other semifinal will feature No. 4 Beaver Local battling No. 5 Miami Trace.

Wrestling at Carrollton will begin at noon.
