West Holmes FFA members attend Ohio Leadership Camp

On Friday, June 21 through Monday, June 24, 13 members of the West Holmes FFA chapter attended the Ohio Leadership Camp at FFA Camp Muskingum in Carroll County.
Individuals attending were Hanna Bruce, Emma Eberhard, Garrett Fowler, Shane Lorentz, Emberlyn Miller, Blake Patterson, Bri Poventud, Alex Pringle, Jarrett Schafer, Andi Schuch, Jenna Sheldon, Logan Van Dalen and Gabby Yates.
During camp the students were divided into “colonies” with other schools that were attending. They would eat and participate in games with their “colony.”
Throughout the week students attended six sessions of the I Am conference, which taught members how to be their best selves. The session topics included Who Am I, Goal Setting, Habits, Determining Your Identity Goals, Balance and Your Next Steps in Your Identity Goals.
In the students’ free time, they were able to do shooting sports, card playing, motor boating, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and many other activities. They also got to meet the entire 2023-24 state officer team throughout their time at camp. The camp hosted guest speakers from the United States Army who gave a speech and talked about some of the opportunities the United States Army has to offer.
Students had a great time on their trip and would like to thank the United States Army for making the camp possible. They also would like to thank their camp scholarship donors who allowed students to go.
On Sunday, June 30, 14 FFA members volunteered to help with bouncy houses at Thunder Over Holmes County in Millersburg. There was a parade, food vendors, bouncy houses, kids activities and fireworks after dark.
Members who attended the event included Andi Schuch, Torrie Savage, Garrett Fowler, Megan Hughes, Jenna Sheldon, Grady Hawkins, Hayden Smith, Colby Long, Cassidy Holasek, Rowan Holasek, Blake Patterson and Gabby Mendoza. They thank Historic Downtown Millersburg for sponsoring the event and inviting them to attend.
