The Wayne County Historical Society will open the 31st season of Voices from the Past with a concert on March 10.

The first program will be the musical group Newberry & Verch at the Wayne County Historical Society in the Schoolhouse on March 10 at 2 p.m.

Growing up, Joe Newberry and April Verch absorbed local traditions — his Missouri Ozarks and her Ottawa Valley of Canada. Newberry took up the guitar and banjo as a boy. Verch grew up listening to her dad’s country band play for dances. She was step dancing at age 3 and fiddling at age 6.

Tickets may be purchased at the Wayne County Historical Society, 546 E. Bowman St., Wooster, Tuesday through Friday from 1-5 p.m. or by calling the society at 330-264-8856. Tickets also may be purchased at Murr Printing. All tickets are $15. Tickets will not be sold at the door on the date of the performance as all performances are usually sold out.
