WCCF awards record number of scholarships in 2024

Wayne County Community Foundation recently awarded scholarships totaling $940,799 to 291 individual students throughout Wayne County. This was a record year for the foundation’s scholarship program, with the largest number of scholarships awarded to date.

“We congratulate each of this year’s scholarship recipients, and we extend our sincere thanks to the caring donors in our community who have made these awards possible,” said Lacie Neal, WCCF program manager. “While it is exciting to have a record year and award almost a million dollars, the true impact of these scholarships is truly immeasurable.”

A complete list of 2024 scholarships and their recipients can be found on the WCCF website at www.WCCFOH.org.

Wayne County Community Foundation offers scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors, continuing college students and nontraditional students and for vocational programs to advanced degrees and everything in between. Applications are accepted on the foundation’s website from Dec. 15 through March 15 each year.

In addition to scholarships that benefit high school seniors, there is a growing need to support post-secondary educational opportunities for individuals who did not finish their college education, need to be retrained or are in advanced fields of study.

“By creating a scholarship fund at Wayne County Community Foundation, you make the dream of higher education a reality for students,” Executive Director Melanie Garcia said. “If education is important to you or a loved one, this is a great way to impact your community for good. We work with donors to design a scholarship that achieves your unique charitable goals — whether that is memorializing a loved one, encouraging a particular field of study or supporting students attending your alma mater.”

Since 1978 the Wayne County Community Foundation has been working to strengthen the community. It is a nonprofit, charitable community organization. Since inception WCCF has returned more than $112.8 million in grants and scholarships to the community.
