Waynedale grad promoted to Brig. Gen. in Air Force
Dan Fowler, a 1992 Waynedale High School graduate, was recently promoted to brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force.

Dan Fowler, 1992 graduate of Waynedale High School and a 1998 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, was promoted to brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force on Sept. 15, recognized in a Nov. 1 ceremony at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s McNamara Auditorium in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where he works.

Fowler is the director of Nuclear Enterprise Directorate at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. He leads an organization responsible for the surety, logistics, education, inspection, oversight and contingency operations for nuclear weapons, as well as mission assurance of critical infrastructure supporting DTRA’s enabling efforts to the U.S. Department of Defense and international allies and partners.

He received his commission in 1998 through the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a command pilot with over 900 hours of flight time in F15C, MC-12 and T-38 and has deployed in support of operations including Operation Iraqi Freedom and others. Prior to his current position, Brig. Gen. Fowler served as the National Guard representative, JCS J5, Western Hemisphere-Homeland Defense, Pentagon, Virginia. Prior to that, he was the deputy director of plans and requirements.
