Wayne Health Department to close during office move

All Wayne County Health Department operations currently located at the 203 S. Walnut St. building in Wooster will be closed Nov. 6-7 to accommodate the move to a new building.

Those operations of the Wayne County Health Department will reopen Nov. 8 at the new address on 244 W. South St. in Wooster, the current location for the American Red Cross. WIC, birth and death records, clinical operations, and immunizations will resume when the new building reopens Nov. 8.

“We are very excited about moving our clinical, WIC program and administrative offices from 203 S. Walnut to our new location,” said Dr. Nicholas Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner. “We are very appreciative of the American Red Cross and the Wayne County commissioners. This move doesn’t happen without graciousness of the American Red Cross, and the renovations don’t occur without the Wayne County commissioners’ investment and support.”

The renovations include a community health clinic, offices for the WIC program and a remodeled reception area. “We will be able to provide better services for the community as the facility is designed specifically for these purposes,” Cascarelli said.

The Red Cross will continue to have its Wooster office at this location. This move does not impact health department environmental health programs (inspections, nuisance complaints, licensures and permits). Those are currently located within the County Administration Building at 428 W. Liberty St. in Wooster and will remain there without any service interruption.
