Watson to run for county commissioner

The Tuscarawas County Democratic Party Central Committee selected Dover resident Kent Watson to be the Democratic candidate for county commissioner, replacing J. Randy Feemster, who withdrew his candidacy from the 2024 general election ballot.
Watson has a history of public service throughout Tuscarawas County. He is retired from Marlite after a 20-year career where he was product specialist for the Interior Architectural Doors and Frame product line. He has a background in customer service, purchasing, management and training of employees, preparing departmental budgets and sales goals, and team building and communication skills.
His current civic involvement includes serving as trustee for the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra, chairman of Tuscarawas Valley Heritage Inc. and committee member for the construction of the new Friends of the Homeless Jack’s House of Hope facility. Watson’s experience includes serving in various positions on the boards of the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce, Tuscarawas Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tuscarawas County Community Foundation, and RTY Inc.
Watson said, “I have always encouraged people to come to Tuscarawas County to experience the many resources our community offers. I have a deep commitment of maintaining what is well-established in this area, but also the vision that is needed to grow our county to offer a better way of life for generations to come.”
