Walnut Hills honors longtime employees

Walnut Hills Retirement Community recently honored 10 longtime team members for their service to the organization’s residents and families. The team members were recognized at a catered luncheon held at Wallhouse Hotel in Walnut Creek.
Chris Miller of Walnut Creek and Linda Yoder of Sugarcreek led the group recognized for service. Miller has worked at Walnut Hills for 35 years while Yoder has served at Walnut Hills for 25 years.
Others who received 2023 Walnut Hills Service Awards included Carol Miller of Sugarcreek for 20 years of service, Velma Keim of Dundee for 15 years of service and Kimberly Purdy of Millersburg for 10 years.
Several team members were recognized for five years of service to Walnut Hills: Elizabeth Axt of Baltic, Erma Beachy of Sugarcreek, Rachael Klintworth of Fresno, Lisa Strouse of Millersburg and Renita Yoder of Sugarcreek.
When honoring the Service Award recipients, supervisors and fellow team members described the recipients as dedicated, creative, empathetic, warm, friendly, kindhearted, always willing to help others, positive and caring, knowledgeable, efficient, flexible, cheerful, going above and beyond for residents, a joy to work with, and compassionate.
“The 10 individuals we honored represent more than 115 total years of service at Walnut Hills,” said David Maletich, executive director. “They give of themselves every day to meet the needs of our residents and their families. These individuals, along with the rest of our team, are the reason Walnut Hills is regarded so highly and is rated as one of the best retirement communities in the state.”
Walnut Hills is a nonprofit continuing care living community that employs 140 team members and is home to 220 individuals age 55 and over.
The 110-acre campus on Olde Pump Street in Walnut Creek offers independent living homes, catered living apartments, assisted living suites and skilled nursing care, as well as inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient therapy.
