Voter registration deadline nears in Holmes

In Holmes County, Tuesday, Feb. 20 is the deadline to register to vote or change your name or address for the March 19 primary election.
Residents can register at the Holmes County Board of Elections, located in the Clinton Street Office Building, 75 E. Clinton St., Suite 108, Millersburg. The board of elections office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration forms also are available at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or Holmes County District Public Library. On Tuesday, Feb. 20, the office will be open until 9 p.m.
To check your registration, change your address online, register online or print forms to register by mail, visit www.voteohio.gov.
To vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen, be a resident of the county and precinct in which he plans to vote, be at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the general election, and have registered to vote at least 30 days prior to the election. Photo identification is required when appearing to vote at the polls.
Appearing on the March 19 primary election ballot are races for U.S. president, U.S. senator, representative to Congress (7th District or 12th District), justice of the Supreme Court (two), justice of the Supreme Court (unexpired term), county commissioner (two), prosecuting attorney, clerk of the Court of Common Pleas, sheriff, county recorder, county treasurer, county engineer, coroner, Republican member of State Central Committee, man and woman (19th District), state representative (98th District), judge of the Court of Appeals (5th District, three), and Democratic member of County Central Committee.
The ballot also will include a Killbuck Village gas aggregation question and property tax renewal issues for Loudonville Village, Clark Township and Loudonville-Perrysville Schools.
