Voter registration deadline looms in Holmes County

Monday, Oct. 7 is the deadline to register to vote or change your name or address for the Nov. 5 general election. Residents can register at the Holmes County Board of Elections, located in the Clinton Street Office Building, 75 E. Clinton St., Suite 108, Millersburg. The board of elections office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Monday, Oct. 7, the office will be open until 9 p.m.

Registration forms also are available at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or Holmes County District Public Library. To check your registration, change your address online, register online or print forms to register by mail, visit www.voteohio.gov.

To vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen, be a resident of the county and precinct in which he/she plans to vote, be at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the general election, and must have registered to vote at least 30 days prior to the election. Photo identification is required when appearing to vote at the polls.

Appearing on the ballot are races for U.S. president, justices of the Supreme Court, U.S. senator, representative to Congress, state representative, judges of the Court of Appeals, county commissioners, prosecuting attorney, clerk of the Court of Common Pleas, sheriff, county recorder, county treasurer, county engineer, and member of the State Board of Education. The ballot also will include a state issue and many local tax and local liquor option issues.
