Veterans Service Commission buys pair of new vans

The Wayne County Veterans Service Commission recently announced the purchase of wheelchair-accessible transport vehicles to aid in the effort to provide comprehensive support to local veterans.
The new vehicles are equipped to accommodate veterans who use wheelchairs, an upgrade that will enable the commission to serve more members of the community effectively. Previously, some veterans had to be referred to other services due to transportation limitations. With these new vehicles, the commission is now better positioned to offer direct support and ensure more veterans receive the assistance they need.
“We are excited about this development,” said Sundee Porter, outreach and marketing coordinator for the Wayne County Veterans Service Commission. “Our goal has always been to provide the best service possible, and these new transport vehicles will allow us to better meet the needs of our veterans who require wheelchair access.”
Veterans in need of transportation can schedule rides by calling the Wayne County Veterans Service Commission at 330-345-6638. Veterans must be in their wheelchair, as the van is not equipped to provide wheelchairs.
