Think spring with Orrville Library’s seed exchange

Orrville Public Library will offer its Seed Exchange Program through the months of March, April and May.
If you’re looking for something new to try or want to share leftover seeds, the library is the place to be. The library will accept both commercially packaged and saved seeds for herbs, flowers and vegetables. If you no longer have the original packet, place your seeds in a small Ziploc bag and label it with the variety of seed, any growing notes and the year of the seed. This is self-serve, so everyone can take some seeds home, even if they have nothing to bring.
For more information call the library at 330-683-1065.
Pokémon Scavenger Hunt
Tuesday, Feb. 27 is National Pokémon Day. Join in the celebration at Orrville Public Library throughout the building with a scavenger hunt for all ages. Those that turn in a completed form will be entered for a chance to win a packet of Pokémon cards. No registration is needed.
Children’s Crafternoon
The library will use newspapers to make a dog or cat collage at Orrville Public Library’s March 1 Crafternoon at 4 p.m. This free event is held the first Friday of each month and is for kids in third grade through sixth grade to explore a variety of creative techniques and media. Projects vary each month.
Registration is required and can be completed by clicking the event on the library’s website calendar at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or by calling the children’s department at 330-683-1065.
Cookbook Club
If interested in exploring authentic Asian cuisine, read Jet Tila’s cookbook, “101 Asian Dishes You Need to Cook Before You Die.” Among the recipes included are beef pho, sweet chili sriracha hot wings and Korean barbecue short ribs on Coke. You’ll also learn how to make your own sriracha.
Pick up a copy of the cookbook at Orrville Public Library’s circulation desk and plan to come to the 6 p.m. meeting on Monday, March 4. Prepare a dish or two from the cookbook to share with others. No registration is necessary.
Brick Builders
Kids in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to the library to use the library’s LEGOs. There also will be time to build their own creation. This is a three-part series that will be held Thursday, March 7, 14 and 21 at 4 p.m.
Registration is required and will begin Monday, Feb. 26. Registration can be completed by clicking the program title on the library’s website calendar or by calling the children’s department. One registration registers kids for the whole series.
March Book Club
“The Lincoln Highway” by Amor Towles is set in the 1950s. Recently driven by the warden back to Nebraska after being released from a juvenile work farm, Emmett Watson just wants to pick up his 8-year-old brother and head to California for a better life. He soon discovers two friends from the work farm have hidden in the warden’s car, and they have an entirely different plan — a plan that will take the four boys all the way to New York City.
Check out a copy of the book and plan to come to Orrville Public Library’s Book Club on Thursday, March 14 to share your thoughts. Come to either the 10 a.m. or the 6:30 p.m. gathering. No registration is needed.
