Historic Zoar Village will host a free Descendant’s Day celebration honoring the historical heritage of the Zoar community on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1-4 p.m.

“Descendant’s Day is a vibrant blend of remembrance and festivity, highlighting the enduring legacy of Zoar’s founding families,” said Tammi Shrum, site director.

During the event descendants of Zoar will commune to celebrate their shared history through a variety of activities. Descendants can get guided tours of the historic buildings, featuring the Bimeler Cabin. There will be guest speakers and opportunities to connect with family members and fellow history enthusiasts.

Descendants can add on a dinner at 5 p.m. at the Canal Tavern of Zoar for $30 per person. The dinner is limited to 32 people. Additionally, there will be a ghost tour for descendants at 7 p.m. for $12 per person. Attendees must register for Descendant’s Day to receive this price.
