Susie Lawson to serve on Ohio School Boards Association Committees

Susie Lawson, a member of the Tri-County Educational Service Center and Wayne County Schools Career Center, has been named to the following committees at the Ohio School Boards Association:

• Audit Committee

The Audit Committee oversees the annual financial statement audit of OSBA and its subsidiaries. The committee is charged with ensuring integrity and quality of accounting practices, financial reporting, disclosure and internal controls.

• Credentials Committee

The Credentials Committee is charged with evaluating and reporting on the credentials of the members of the Delegate Assembly, which meets annually. Committee members are elected or appointed by their respective OSBA regions.

• Federal Relations Network

The Federal Relations Network is the National School Boards Association’s (NSBA) major grassroots lobbying force involved in federal issues. The network consists of two board members in each congressional district who are appointed by the OSBA president and then ratified by the OSBA Board of Trustees. Members work with NSBA through the OSBA Division of Legislative Services.

• Northeast Regional Executive Committee

The Northeast Region Executive Committee provides governance and leadership to school board members in Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties. The committee is elected by OSBA members in the Northeast Region.

• Student Achievement Leadership Team

The Student Achievement Leadership Team is charged with advising and directing OSBA staff in the development and implementation of programs to help school boards improve student achievement. It is part of the OSBA Student Achievement Initiative, which is an ongoing program focused on board members’ roles and responsibilities in public education, and marshaling members’ support to increase student achievement.
