Survivor themed Girl Scout Day Camp
Eighty-six girls in grades K-12 and 16 adults from Wayne, Ashland and Holmes counties participated in this years Survivor-themed Girl Scout Day Camp, July 8-12, at Christmas Run Park in Wooster.Along with scouting traditions like songs and games, outdoor skills and crafting swaps, the Survivor theme gave the camp directors (Crystal Lilley-Hunt, Betsy Keller and Stacey Castellucci) a chance to include some fresh ideas. At the Girl Power station, the girls learned how to prevent bullying by empowering themselves and making healthy social choices. During daily tribal challenges, the girls used teamwork to complete tasks such as building a raft and a shelter, creating garments out of newspaper and everyones favorite survivor challenge, eating (chocolate-covered) bugs.
