Buckeye Career Center is celebrating students who have recently earned national accolades.

Computer technology senior Marc Tufford of New Philadelphia placed eighth in the Network Administration with Cisco category at the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference May 10-14 in Chicago, Illinois.

Additionally, the Buckeye Business Academy at East Holmes Parliamentary Procedure Team placed second out of 29 teams. Team members include Katie Troyer, Jasmine Montanez, Alexa Yoder, Rose Schlabach, Marissa Montanez, Kyle Miller and Jesse Hershberger. In other competitions Addy Peachy earned sixth place in Intermediate Word Processing, Marissa Montanez placed eighth in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts, and Jasmine Montanez placed 11th in Administrative Support Concepts and 11th in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts.

Tufford is instructed by Bill Alexander in the BCC computer technology/network systems program while Amy Stauffer-McNutt instructs the Buckeye Business Academy at East Holmes program.

In other competition news, Project Lead the Way/engineering students Hayden Fernandez of Strasburg, Isaac Menapace of New Philadelphia and Jared Kimble of Garaway placed second at the National Robotics Challenge. Project Lead the Way/engineering students Micayela Plants and Josiah Klaserner earned second as a team in the Intro to Engineering Design competition at the Project Lead the Way Showcase at BCC on May 2.
