Strasburg High Art Club creates beautification project in the village

Strasburg High School students in Hope Haney’s art club have been gathering each week at the wall in front of the Strasburg United Methodist Church, 206 Second St. NW, to beautify the wall.
This was an effort to reach out to the community on a street that is highly traveled to the school. Haney approached the church leadership team about the beautification project.
The group used the quote “Consider the Lilies” as its theme. First, the wall was primed and painted white. Then the tiger lily flowers and leaf designs were drawn on the wall. The art club had some inclement weather, and it delayed the schedule to paint.
“I was waiting for my macchiato at Cross Caffe when I looked across the street at the concrete and thought of the opportunity that canvas could have for the church, the school and ultimately the community,” Haney said.
The art students are painting the lilies orange with other accent colors and expect to have the project completed by the end of May.
The students participating are Emily Rothacher, Graycn Lancaster, Bella Lindsey, Ashlynn Crouse, Kinsey Benline, Nicole Bowersock, Sugeily Ajanel Huinac and McKenzie Mitchell.
