Speed limit changes for Milltown, Sylvan roads
The Wayne County Engineer’s Office announced the speed limits on Milltown Road between Oak Hill and Mechanicsburg Road on the north side of Wooster and Sylvan Road between Hillcrest and Sylvan’s dead-end on the east side of Wooster will change to 45 mph.
The changes are a result of a recently completed study conducted by the engineer’s office.
“The study examined several factors including road width, hills and curves, average daily traffic count, accident history, as well as the number of houses and businesses along the road,” traffic safety supervisor Brock Yoder of the Wayne County Engineer’s Office said. “The State of Ohio has minimum guidelines that dictate the permitted speed along all sections of roadway on the township, county and state routes.”
Based on the results and guidelines, the Wayne County Commissioners and the Ohio Department of Transportation District 3 approved the change. New signs were scheduled to be installed during the week of Dec. 7.
Previously, the speed limit on Milltown Road and Sylvan Road was 55 mph.
