Soap box derby winners are all smiles
Results from the annual Tuscarawas County Soap Box Derby, held June 27.
Super Kids Division (Special needs racer with experienced driver): first place- Max Burnham, age 11, of Dover, son of Jack and Judy Burnham, with driver Kallie Myers, age 15 of Barton, daughter of Matt and Kathy Myers; second- James Zenk, age 14, of Canton, son of Kim VanBlaricum, with driver Meghan Frantz, age 15, of New Philadelphia, daughter of Dave and Christa Frantz. Third place- Conner DiGenova, 11, son of Coney and Dana DiGenova, of New Philadelphia, with driver Kyle Finlayson, age 17, of Bolivar, son of Doug and Sandy Finlayson.
Stock Division: first- Joshua Hershberger, age 9, of Dover, son of Dave and Marie Hershberger; second- Kayla Polka, age 9, of New Philadelphia, daughter of Brian and Jessica Polka and Trisha Cox; third- Mary Pahoundis, age 10, of Cambridge, daughter of George and Marika Pahoundis.
Super Stock Division: first- Mitchell Woodhall, age 9, of Dover, son of Joe and Nadine Woodhall; second- Shana Jones, age 13, of Sugarcreek, daughter of Tom and Mariam Jones; third- Alex Denney, age 9, of Dover, son of Dave and Nicole Denney
Masters Division: first- Kallie Myers, age 15, of Barton, daughter of Matt and Kathy Myers; second- Nicole McMurray, age 15, of Mineral City, daughter of Jim and Pat Zurfley; third- Caleb Meechan, age 15, of New Philadelphia, son of Jackie Meechan and John Meechan.
The champion of the Super Kids will race in the National Super Kids Classic to be held Friday, July 23, and Saturday, July 24, in Akron. The Stock, Super Stock and Masters champions will race in the 73rd running of the All-American Soap Box Derby on Saturday, July 24, in Akron.
