Join the Lose-a-Ton/Win-a-Ton contest to get fit. The Growing Healthy Habits Coalition, based at Aultman Orrville Hospital, is reaching out countywide to challenge teams to successfully meet their weight-loss goals and be entered into a drawing for a grand prize of $2,000.

The contest will run from Jan. 2 through Mar. 31. At the end of the three-month period, results will be tallied. The goal is for all teams together to collectively lose more than 2,000 pounds of extra weight. In previous years the total weight loss has exceeded 5,000 pounds.

The goal for individuals is to lose a minimum of 5 pounds or to have a body mass index of 26 or less. To enter, form a team of 7-10 members age 18 or older. The entry fee is $20 per person. Weights and BMIs are measured by one’s team captain at the start and end of the contest and are kept confidential. Team members are responsible to each other for setting and reaching goals.

Each team captain or a representative is required to attend meetings at Aultman Orrville Hospital every other Tuesday, beginning Jan. 10 from noon to 1 p.m. Meetings are open to all participants and offer special speakers and tips to reach goals.

A contest entry form is available for download at www.growinghealthyhabits.com.

The mission of the Growing Healthy Habits Coalition, a consortium of 14 community members representing various healthy lifestyle-focused businesses and organizations, is “to serve as a catalyst for improving decisions about fitness, nutrition and healthy lifestyles made by individuals, groups and institutions within the greater Orrville Community.”
