Shaffer honored for 33 years with Village of Millersburg

Millersburg Village Council held a regular meeting in the Council Chambers on April 22.
Longtime village treasurer/clerk/fiscal officer Karen Shaffer, who retired on April 26, addressed council during the meeting. Shaffer started working for the village on April 29, 1991.
She shared some highlights of her time in the position. During her career with the village, she said she had the pleasure of working alongside nine administrative staff members, two solicitors, two police chiefs, five administrators, eight mayors, 24 council members and numerous other village employees.
Shaffer thanked all her past and present constituents and the citizens of Millersburg. She wished the village well.
Millersburg Mayor Kelly Hoffee presented a gift to Shaffer from council members and staff. Hoffee also read a proclamation honoring Shaffer for her 33 years of service to the village.
Shaffer requested council appoint Bobbie Curry as her successor. Council then approved a motion to appoint Bobbie Curry as the village’s fiscal officer and tax administrator, effective April 27.
In other matters Hoffee said Brent Schrock, a Tree City board member, had reached out to her about a change of committee members.
Schrock said Janie Tish, due to other commitments, had been unable to participate in the board’s meetings/activities. For that reason Tish resigned from the committee.
Rodney Arnold had expressed interest in being on the committee, so council approved a motion to replace Tish on the Tree City Committee with Arnold.
