Several locals earn East District football top honors

The East District football teams were announced Nov. 7, and West Holmes and Garaway had several players named to the teams.
The Knights earned all the top honors in Division IV. Junior quarterback Morgan Smith was picked Co-Offensive Player of the Year, sophomore linebacker Lynn Cline was selected Co-Defensive POY and Zach Gardner was tabbed Co-Coach of the Year.
Smith was joined on the first-team offense by senior wide receiver Kyle Maltarich, junior wideout Logan Zollars, junior lineman Morgan Eastep and junior kicker Alex Pringle.
Cline was joined on the first-team defense by junior lineman Elijah Williams-Dixon and senior linebacker Gus Warner.
Senior wideout Nate Fair and senior lineman Gage Brown earned second-team offense honors, and senior defensive lineman Jack Marmet picked up honorable mention accolades.
The Pirates, who finished the regular season unbeaten for the third consecutive season, swept all the top honors in Div. VI. Senior wide receiver Jenson Garber was selected Offensive POY, senior linebacker Wyatt Wallick was picked Co-Defensive POY and Jason Wallick was tabbed Coach of the Year.
Garber was joined on the first-team offense by junior quarterback Brady Geibel, junior running back Dillon Soehnlen, senior lineman Jake Miller and junior kicker Anderson Colon.
Wyatt Wallick was joined on the first-team defense by senior lineman Wyatt Hershberger, senior lineman Jackson Reifenschneider and senior linebacker Payton Keller.
Junior wideout Bronson Speedy and sophomore lineman Colson Keller were second-team offense picks. Senior lineman Clayton Downs, senior linebacker Ethan Kimble and junior linebacker Jayce Wallick were second-team defense selections.
Sophomore Micah Yoder and junior Bryce Yoder earned honorable mention accolades.
