Several local hoops stars earn All-East District hoops honors

The East District released its all-district boys and girls basketball teams, and several local players were named to the teams.

Boys

Hiland’s Mark Schlabach earned one of the top honors in Division IV, as he was named Coach of the Year.

Sammy Detweiler was a first-team pick for the Hawks. Nick Wigton and Alex Yoder picked up second-team honors while Alex Miller was named to the third team.

In Div. II, West Holmes’ Collier Cline was a third-team pick, and Nate Fair earned special mention honors.

In Div. III, Garaway’s Blane Raiber and Gabe Amicone were second-team selections. Jenson Garber earned third-team honors, and Jackson Reifenschneider received honorable mention accolades.

Girls

Hiland swept the top honors in Div. IV, as senior point guard Ashley Mullet was named Player of the Year, and Brady Schlabach was tabbed Coach of the Year.

Mullet was joined on the first team by teammates Joplin Yoder and Mallory Stutzman. Trish Troyer was a second-team pick while Evie Mast and Macy Mullet earned honorable mention accolades.

Also, in Div. IV, Garaway’s Meghan Schwartz was a third-team choice, and Paige Regula and Mercedes Schlabach were named to the honorable mention team.

In Div. II, West Holmes’ Keegan Uhl was a first-team pick. Allie McMillen earned second-team honors, and Briar Cline picked up third-team accolades. Aveona Yoder and Zalina Proper were named to the special mention team while Chloe Patten was selected to the honorable mention team.
