The Strasburg-Franklin Local School District is seeking applicants to fill an expired and a vacant term of board members, effective Jan. 1. The board will begin interviewing candidates soon and must name replacements within 30 days of the vacancy. The newly appointed members will serve until Jan. 1, 2026. If the new members decide to continue serving on the board, they must run in the next general election.

Those interested in serving on the board should call Superintendent Vince Lindsey at 330-878-5571 ext. 4. Applications also are available on the district’s website at www.strasburgtigers.org/board-of-education, and hard copies are available in the administrative office at 140 N. Bodmer Ave. All applications should be submitted to the administrative office, placed in the administrative office drop box or emailed to vince.lindsey@strasburgtigers.org.

According to Ohio law, an individual serving on Ohio school boards must be a district resident, registered to vote in that district and at least 18 years old. Kevin Harvey, board president, said the board will interview all candidates and decide on the replacement of the board members at the Jan. 17 meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The board wants to thank Stacy Bitikofer for her years of service to the district. She did not seek re-election. The board also thanked Wes Hostetler for his years on the board and as a board representative to Buckeye Career Center. He was instrumental in developing the multipurpose complex to benefit the school and community. Hostetler resigned because he was elected to village council, effective Jan. 1.
