SAR to honor Tuscarawas County native

On Saturday, Aug. 17 at 5 p.m., the Sons of the American Revolution will host a ceremony honoring Tuscarawas County native and Revolutionary War veteran Daniel Shuster by dedicating a memorial marker at his grave in New Cumberland Cemetery in Mineral City.
The ceremony will feature a presentation of colors by the SAR State Color Guard with rifles — all dressed in Revolutionary War period uniforms. Members of the Shuster family will join the SAR in honoring their patriot ancestor as part of the 120th meeting of the Descendants of Daniel Shuster.
A family descendant and SAR member, Richard Westlake will present the biography of his ancestor. The public is invited to see this tribute to one of America's first veterans.
The SAR is a national historical and educational society whose members are direct descendants of the patriots who earned the country's independence. Call Gary Martzolf at 330-327-7869.
