Sandy Valley marches in HOF Parade

The Sandy Valley High School Cardinal Marching Band, under the direction of Craig Carnes, made its 61st appearance in the Grand Hall of Fame Parade in Canton on Saturday, Aug. 3.
The band was led by Alyssa Hummel and Natalie Casebolt carrying the banner.
Sandy Valley cheerleaders also participated.
“To the best of our knowledge, the Sandy Valley band has marched in every Hall of Fame Grand Parade since its beginning in 1963,” Carnes said.
The tradition draws approximately 200,000 people annually, making it the fifth-largest parade in the country and Canton’s biggest.
The two-hour annual parade features area and out-of-state marching bands and other walking units, along with the current and past Hall of Fame enshrinees. The march began at Fifth Street Southwest and continued to 25th Street North.
