Recount of ballots confirms Danville results

On Dec. 5, the Holmes County Board of Elections completed a hand recount of the Danville Local School District additional permanent improvement levy issue. The hand count of the ballots confirmed the official canvass results. Knox County Board of Elections confirmed their results the same day. The district-wide results of the issue were 600 votes for the tax levy and 603 votes against the tax levy.

Holmes County Board of Elections post-election audit was also conducted. The audit hand count yielded 99.76%, 99.76% and 100% accuracy rates of the tabulation of votes certified. A total of 830 ballots were reviewed — 9.4% of all ballots cast. The issue preventing 100% tabulation accuracy was a single ballot marked by checkmarks. Checkmarks do not scan and tabulate accurately. Always mark your ballot by completely filling the oval next to the candidate of your choice.

The Board will next meet on Monday, Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. to perform an employee evaluation.
