Orrville Public Library to host Shark Week

Stop by Orrville Public Library during Shark Week, July 22-27. Attendees will get a scavenger hunt and other activities. Bring your camera for photos with the library’s shark cutouts. No registration is needed for these free activities.
Teen Book Box
Teens, it’s almost time to sign up for a new Book Box. Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade are invited to tell the staff of Orrville Public Library what they like to read, and staffers will then design a customized reading box. The box will contain two library books and some treats and trinkets. Sign-ups will be held July 15-27, with Book Boxes available to pick up Aug. 5-10.

Teen Tie-Dye
Tie-Dye Friday will be July 26 for those in sixth grade through 12th grade. Orrville Public Library will provide the T-shirt and supplies to tie-dye a T-shirt. Choose either the 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. session. Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
All supplies will be provided. Registration can be completed by clicking the date on the library website calendar or by calling the information desk.
Maker Faire
Join Orrville Public Library staff at Maker Faire Wayne County on Saturday, July 27. Staffers will feature a STEAM activity using Ozobots, a small robot that introduces people to coding.
This year’s event will be held at the Wayne County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. This event will feature over 100 hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, crafters and more.
Ready, Set, Kindergarten!
Orrville Public Library will provide stories and a school-related craft at this free event.
A morning session will be offered at 10:30 a.m. and an evening session at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5. Registration is required and will begin July 22. Registration can be completed on the library website calendar or by calling the children’s department.
Author visit
Orrville Public Library announced Ohio author Mindy McGinnis will help it kick off the 2024-25 Book Club season. She will be at the library on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m.
Her books span many genres, and her titles include “Under This Red Rock,” “A Long Stretch of Bad Days,” “The Last Laugh” and “Be Not Far From Me.” Check out her books and plan to meet her, ask questions and share thoughts. No registration is needed.
